What is Cialis?

Cialis Tadalafil is an oral treatment for impotence (male erectile dysfunction) currently available by prescription in the UK. It is an almond-shaped yellow pill containing the active ingredient tadalafil. On average, it is effective for 80% of men.

What are the alternatives to Cialis?

Among the other prescription treatments available in tablet form are Viagra and Levitra. The general feedback from our patients is that Levitra has the least side effects and those who try it, like it and seem to stick with it. Cialis is often the first choice for new patients because its “window” of effectiveness is up to 36 hours, considerably longer than other treatments. This can mean that there is less pressure to “time” your sexual activity and therefore can lead to a more relaxed and “natural” experience. Although very popular, some patients have expressed that they do not like feeling under the influence for so long. Viagra is said to produce the strongest erections but again there can sometimes be side-effects and it varies from patient to patient.

Is there a generic alternative?

No. In fact, generic Cialis is totally illegal and those pushing it are breaking the law. Our advice is to avoid buying treatments such as “Cialis Soft Tabs” for the simple reason you have no idea whether they will work. Like generic Levitra, generic Cialis is often manufactured by backstreet operations. On testing, most batches seized by the authorities usually reveal little or no active ingredient in the product.

The Cialis treatment that we supply is genuine branded medicine carrying the manufacturer’s hallmark and production batch code. We supply you with the name of our prescribing doctor and pharmacy when the treatments are despatched.

How does Cialis work?

Cialis Tadalafil works in the same way as Viagra and Levitra by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase (PDE5) which is found primarily in the penis. By inhibiting PDE5, the blood vessels in the penis remain relaxed for a longer period allowing for increased blood flow. It also has the effect of “trapping” the blood in the penis helping to produce longer-lasting erections. Cialis and the other treatments Viagra and Levitra only work in response to sexual stimulation.

back

When should I take it?

Between 30 minutes and one hour prior to sexual activity. Cialis should not be taken more than once in any 24-hour period. The half-life of Cialis i.e. the time the drug remains effective after ingestion, is approximately twenty four hours though some of our patients have reported it working for up to 36 hours.

back

How well does it work?

Official trials show that Cialis works extremely well – up to 80% of men reported an improvement in their erections. For people with diabetes, the treatments are effective in about 60% of men. Anecdotal feedback from our patients backs this up.

back

What is the correct dosage?

Patients are usually advised to start with the standard dose of 10mg. Our doctor will always advise if the dose is inappropriate.

back

What are the side effects of Cialis?

Generally mild and short-lived, some of the following side effects have been reported:

  • Indigestion
  • Congestion
  • Facial Flushing
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness

back

Is there any reason why I shouldn’t take Cialis?

Men taking medicines containing nitrates in any form should not take Cialis as this can cause a large and sudden drop in blood pressure. Nitrates include the heart medicine nitroglycerine (GTN) and the long acting nitrates used to treat angina (chest pain). Cialis can adversely interact with some medications. For further advice, before buying cialis, please email our doctor at doctor@firstmed.co.uk.
