Parallel Imports
This is one of the most worrying aspects to illegal trade in pharmaceuticals. Every country is allocated a quota of treatments and a different price is set by the pharmaceutical giants depending on the country's wealth. Some corrupt developing nations then resell their quota of treatments to developing countries. The cost of these treatments can often be up to four times cheaper than official supplies. The retailers simply raise the sale price of the treatments to just below the actual regular prices thus keeping the savings and not passing them onto the customers.
For the customer it seems a bargain as they are getting authentic treatments at a slightly reduced price. However they are not benefiting as much from the savings as the retailer. The main losers in this story though are the sick and dying of the developing nations. They are deprived of one of the few small helping hands that the developing world has offered out.

How to spot parallel imports?
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to spot if a site is selling parallel treatments. The only indications will be that the treatments seem slightly cheaper. The only real proof of parallel import is sometimes displayed on the boxes. The instructions may be written in a different language or they may have a different country for sale indicated. Finally, all Cialis and Viagra sold in Europe is sold in divisions of four. Most of the rest of the world sells their treatments in divisions of five (5, 10, 15, 20).
