Diabetes
Diabetes is a raised level of glucose (sugar) in the blood over a long period of time. A consequence is some degree of damage to the fine structure of the small nerves and blood vessels throughout the body.
Type 1 diabetes is more common in younger people and is due to a lack of insulin production. Type 1 diabetes therefore always needs to be treated with insulin injections.
Type 2 diabetes is the commonest form and generally found in people over 40. Insulin is still produced but inefficiently. Most people with Type 2 diabetes are overweight and many of them have only mild symptoms for years before the diabetes is even noticed. Unfortunately even having mild diabetes can cause some nerve and artery damage and a high proportion of people newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes already show problems such as impotence.

The following is information on how diabetes relates to the conditions we specialise in.
Impotence (erectile dysfunction)
About 50 per cent of men with diabetes will experience some kind of sexual problem. The complications of long-standing diabetes, such as ED, are common to both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Good control of diabetes lessens the chance of such complications occurring but it is impossible to eliminate the chances of developing erectile dysfunction (ED) in diabetes.
Anyone who feels that their diabetes has caused problems with their sex life should have a doctor check if there are significant problems with the arteries or the nervous system. Fortunately impotence in diabetes is easily treatable, and with help and support from their partner and doctor, the results of treatment are good.
Most men will react well to any of the oral impotence treatments available and it is more a question of which would suit the individual better. Following consultation with our Doctor, you will be able to buy online from FirstMed one of the three main oral impotence treatments; Cialis, Viagra or Levitra. For further information about which treatment is most likely to suit you best, please see our Viagra vs Cialis vs Levitra comparison table.

Erectile Dysfunction and Diabetes explained
Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the UK and many other countries. Over 60% of the UK adult population and nearly 30% of our children are overweight. Obesity has trebled here in the last 20 years, with 1000 people are becoming obese every day. The links between type 2 diabetes and obesity are firmly established. Without the intervention of a healthy diet and appropriate exercise, obesity may develop into diabetes over a relatively short period of time.
Very worrying is the rapid increase in childhood obesity. One in three children is now categorised as overweight and one in nine obese. Predictions are that diabetes and heart disease will increase among teenagers resulting in thousands of premature deaths and disabilities in the next generation.
Weight loss is recommended to lower elevated blood glucose levels in overweight and obese persons with type 2 diabetes. For weight loss advice and treatments please read more about Xenical . Acomplia
