Levitra was developed by German chemical and healthcare conglomerate, Bayer AG. In the United States, Levitra is being co-marketed by British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline.

Levitra (Vardenafil) is a member of a family of drugs called PDE5 Inhibitors. Levitra received final approval for use in the United States in August, 2003. The patent is due to expire August 19th, 2008.

Take Levitra exactly as your doctor prescribes. Levitra comes in different doses (2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg). For most men, the recommended starting dose is 10 mg. Take Levitra no more than once a day. Doses should be taken at least 24 hours apart. Some men can only take a low dose of Levitra because of medical conditions or medicines they take. Your doctor will prescribe the dose that is right for you. No overdose of Levitra has been reported. However, any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

Precautions to take

Refrain from further sexual activity and notify your doctor it you develop dizziness, nausea, or angina (pain, tightness, discomfort, numbness, or tingling in the chest, arms, neck, or jaw) during sexual activity. Do not take Levitra more than once a day. In some cases, use of Levitra may be restricted to once every 72 hours (3 days). Follow your doctor's instructions. Check the side effects of Levitra.
